Book a Treatment
A Clinical Reflexology treatment is a therapeutic experience involving specific pressure points or ‘reflexes’ stimulated on the hands and feet. The hands and feet have corresponding reflexes that reflect all the body’s anatomy including internal organs, muscles, spinal nerves, cranial nerves, even the smallest lymphatic vessels and deeper fascia. The Major Meridians of Chinese Traditional Medicine all begin or end in the fingers and toes, with each Acupressure point stimulated too.
Stimulation of each reflex or Acupressure point can bring each area into a better state of balance. Often reflexes can be sensitive, even painful, when out of balance, but release after being stimulated.
Clinical Reflexology works Neurologically-The feet and hands have thousands of nerve endings from the Peripheral Nervous system, which is a two-way neurological pathway to and from the Brain (Sensory information is sent from these nerve endings to the brain and Motor output is sent from the Brain to these nerve endings)
The authoritative pressure used in a Clinical Reflexology treatment activates these nerve endings and sends sensory information to the Brain, where it will integrate and respond to the stimulus. If a reflex is out of balance, the Brain will alert the immune system to respond-Reflexology is essentially not healing the body; it is allowing the body to heal itself.
It is also a deeply relaxing experience that allows the Brain to be in a parasympathetic nervous system state, the opposite to the ‘Fight or Flight’ Sympathetic response associated with Stress, which allows the Immune system to work more effectively.
A treatment involves taking your socks and shoes off and lying in a reclining chair, with the relaxing sounds of running water and soothing music, set in a beautiful, peaceful environment conducive to relaxation. The experience is profound, and you will feel the difference in your symptoms afterwards.
Clients often report feeling less stressed with improved sleeping patterns, digestion, hormone balance, less pain and inflammation in tight muscles or joints, and a difference in their overall well-being.
A course of 4-6 weekly treatments is recommended to allow the body to respond to the stimulus and the journey of healing takes place over a period, getting back to the body’s Homeostasis where everything works perfectly again.
